Individual Psychotherapy
In individual psychotherapy, our trained professionals and clients work
together to establish a strong working relationship in order
to alleviate the client's psychological and emotional problems.
The object of their relationship(s) is (1) removing and/or
modifying existing symptoms, (2) mediating disturbed patterns
of behavior, and (3) promoting positive personality growth
and development.
Group Psychotherapy
Group psychotherapy is a special form of therapy in which
a small number of people meet together under the guidance
of our professionally trained therapists to help themselves
and one another. Group therapy helps people learn about
themselves and improve their interpersonal relationships.
It addresses feelings of isolation, depression or anxiety.
And it helps people make significant changes so they feel
better about the quality of their lives. Additionally, group
therapists can apply the principles of group to other settings
and situations such as businesses, schools and community
organizations. Also offered are focused group experiences
such as anger management, parenting, and addictions.
Couples Counseling
Couples counseling aims to increase understanding of the
couple's relationship patterns, and decrease destructive
(but all-too-human) tendencies to focus on blame and guilt.
Riegler Shienvold & Associates understands there
is no relationship that is not without its problems. Working
with couples in counseling to achieve better understanding,
better communications, and acceptable expectations can profoundly
affect the quality of the relationship. Participants can
be expected to be treated as two adults, with respect for
the life course and goals of each of the partners. Couples
counseling can be very challenging, even an adventure in
self-discovery.
